Hey guys. Have not been around here for a while. Finally starting to get the last of the anoying bugs taken care of with the 70RR. When I hit the kickdown going about 50 mph it seemed like the tranny was not kicking down to 2nd gear. My local guy got it up on the hoist yesterday and noticed that the kickdown rod to the tranny was hitting the side of the exhaust pipe. So we push the pipe over to clear. That problem solved. I take it on the highway, floor it and it kicks down to second gear like it is supposed to do. The motor revs but the car doesn't seem to be pulling like it should. Originally the secondaries were not opening up because the rod was hitting the pipe. Now they open fully but something seems to be holding back full power. He suggested I drop the shifter down manually to second gear to see what happends. I did that and I get the same response. Car is not pulling like it should. Any suggestions? Could it be a timing problem with the motor or could it be something like an adjustment in the tranny? Tranny was totally rebuilt by a shop that knows mopar trannys. The guy that did the tranny told me that it had a mild shift kit in there.

Does the trans have all three gears? Does the engine rev but not accelerate the vehicle or does the engine not pull...

Yes the tranny has all 3 gears. When you floor it the engine revs and it kicks down to second gear but the car doesn't seem to go faster than 60 mph. It just hits a point and will not go faster unless I let off the pedal and get back to 3rd gear. It doesn't take off like it should. The guy that did the tranny also replaced the torgue converter with a stock one.

I will check. I do have new fuel tank, fuel lines. No points. Have Mopar Electronic Ignition. New air filter. Taking it back to my guy next week to check timing.

Yes I have a tac but not one that is installed. Just one to use to set idle speed.
