stock 383 valve covers - what's the best gasket? Should I use a sealant?

I'm one of those that think that the tightening of the bolts is more important than the gasket choice.

I used these last month after putting my head back on:

Pricey Mopar Performance Red Rubber Gaskets

Also, I have always used Permatex Number 2, only on the valve cover side, and always had good luck.
That way, I have been able to remove and replace the valve cover several times over a period of 2-3 years without needing to change the gasket.

But I really think the key is that torque spec: 40 inch-pounds - only 3 1/3 foot pounds.
