Ok,take two F-body cars...both with caltracks.

One car has a front seg. length of approx 17 1/2 inches.

The other cars front seg. is 4 inches longer at approx 21.5 inches.

Would it stand to reason the longer front segment setup would work better then the shorter of the two...

THANKS!!!

Not really, you don't want the front portion to flex, thus why people clamp springs, and the fundamental point behind the bars themselves. You want the power to transfer forward through the chassis, not upwards.

IMHO, the closer the front spring eye bolt is to the 100% anti-squat line, the better......... but, I know some NHRA Stocker racers have moved their front spring eyes forward to calm their cars down.......(but, that may have just moved it closer to 100% anti-squate )

Currently the short setup does not squat one bit on launch, it used to lift the rear a hair until I slowed down the ext rate on the shocks.

Cool..........IMHO, you don't want squat or rise....The way I've always done it is if the track is really good, the rear shocks have to be very stiff to keep it to where it just rises a 1/2"......when the track gets worse, the shocks need to be looser and looser to get it to rise that 1/2".......

What problem are you having?

i'm with you on that, the angle on the adjustable bar changes quite a few degrees as soon as the as the car lifts or the tire separates. if four link cars changed several degrees of angle on the launch, there would be issues there. if the bar on the cow tracks (like that on the chevy and ford) was longer it would have less of a angle change. after doing every thing that calvert suggested i pulled of all his stuff off and went to ladder bars with coil overs. i'm happy now

Other makes springs are more centered than mopars, and they react differently.
The little I talked to Calvert a while back, Mopars separate more cuz of the shorter front segment.
Personally feel there is perfomance advantage with longer front segment but have no data or supporting facts.
Mono's work excellent.

Yes, Thanks... thats alot of good info.

I guess either way im ok on the bars, it seems I just need to go alot lighter front spring in the alterktion, two oil pans pushed into the pickup, pushing the pickup tube into the crank, ect in one year has me a bit "skidddish" ha ha! on going to a lighter spring for better travel even with QA1 Doubles at all four corners.

Thanks much,

I also thank you guys for the pointer to that great thread. Now I'll need to do some fabrication work and see if I can put what I learned to some good use!

Duner! My first outing at the track I would run a 10.6 with a 1.7 60ft with caltracs and radial.. got it to hook some to a 1.46 and went 10.08 all in crap air! The more I hooked with the radials the mph went up also. Shame I never got to try my afco double adjustables

Wow! I sure hope I can get some results like that. I tried radials and it won't even try and hook with them right now. I'm really looking forward to some fab work and some results.
