Finally going through some of the boxes of stuff that came in the trunk of my 70' Bee project. I found the shifter and a white cue ball shifter handle. I always thought the 70' came with the pistol grip. The car is a real Bee, 383 factory four speed bench seat car. What handle should this thing have

Yes it would of came with a Pistol Grip if it was a 4 speed in 1970, unless it was a 3 speed.

Really, 3 speed manual?? Was that even an option? So would that have made it the cue ball then?

Yep, the 3-speed manual was standard on the '70 Superbee (automatic and 4-speed were extra cost) .
Along with changing the dash trim from vinyl to plastic , and a few other things, this was done so they could offer the 1970 models for less money than the 1969 models . Of course most people did option for a better trans.

Thanks, cool reference sheet. Well this car has the reverse light, so according to that sheet, 4 speed manual, so I guess I'm looking for a pistol grip handle. Thanks

Interesting, I'm not opposed to the cue ball, I've just always loved the look of the pistol grip. I've got a lot more stuff to go through so we'll see what other gems are hidden in this thing.

If it was ORIGINALLY a 4-speed it was changed.

1970 Super Bee was STANDARD with 383 & 3-speed manual transmission, the 3-speed's shifter lever had a black ball with the 3-speed pattern on it. PERIOD

OPTIONAL at $197.25 was the 4-speed manual transmission, the 4-speed's shifter lever is a "pistol grip" with the 4-speed pattern on it. PERIOD

Great info, thanks. It's a WM21 car, TX9, with the reverse light on the dash. Does that help? The shifter ball I found is white with the four speed pattern so it sounds like somebody changed something
