I have a 1969 Coronet R/T. Owned it since 1972.
Many years ago clipped the Transmission neutral switch and wired the starter relay to work. Iknow I know I burned my dash instruments out.
Recently I repaired the dash instruments, used a wiring diagram and replaced the neutralback up switch wiring harness and engine wiring harness.

Problem? I now have no power going to the starter solenoid.

Questions? Is the ignition switch and neutral/backup switch a probable cause? If so is there a way to test them to determine?

Thanks to anyone who helps

Lyndon

starter relay gets two sources to make it work. Just when both are set, it will work.

you need 12 + volts from ign key at IGN terminal ( yellow wire ) and 12 volts - ( ground ) on Ground terminal ( brown traced yellow wire ) coming from NSS central pin JUST in P or N

how to test... well, checking wiring frist, if you have 12 + volts at yellow wire when cranking and check for continuity with chassis ground at brown traced wire coming from NSS

then check starter relay... You can jump both... ground the G terminal with Chassis, and jumps the IGN terminal with relay stud if you want.

when jumping, be sure you are in P or N because if in gear, car will move.

HI,

Thanks for reply.
There is no response when I turn the ignition switch.
No power with voltmeter with switch in ignition(acc) position.

Thanks for the response.

Should the 12 volts be present on the yellow wire continously or when the switch is in the ignition position?

When in "start". It's what engages the starter solenoid.
