is there a suitable source under the hood to hook up my switched 12v source for my thermo switch on my HHR fan or do i have to run the wire into the passenger compartment? thanks

Since I dont use ignitions that use a balast I normally tie the start and run wires together for the ignition. This is a good spot for a relay switched hot. Then I use a OE type, ground triggered sensor to activate the fan.

thanks, i run an msd 6al and gutted the ballast and put a 10ga wire in to effectively omit the resistor. i'm using the summit 185f on 175f off kit. i'll try the ballast as the switched 12v.

I've had bad luck with those switches, hopefully they work out better for you

I went through a few of those preset switches, they weren't turning on at the specified temperature. I tested them out in a boiling pot of water with a thermometer and they were activating about 10-15* higher than what they were supposed to operate at. Maybe I just got a bad batch but I just decided to go with an adjustable unit.

You can always use an OE replacement like a Grand Nation or Turbo TA switch. Very reliable.
