We are thinking of putting an old racecar back on the track and have an issue with the front brakes on it. It's a 70 RR. Years ago the front spindles were changed but knowone can remember what those spindles came off of. Right now when you apply the brakes the front stick so we want to change them to a good disc (Wilwood, etc.) Should we just change the spindles to something we know or what? What's are choices?
I hope I explained this ok.

This page has some dimensions of spindles. Maybe it will help you identify yours:

Are they drum or disc now?The cheapest and easiset would be to get a late model Volare, Dart etc and change them.I have late Dart on my 65 B and they stop great.Even with all new pads bearings seal rotors I have less than 300 in them.Rocky

should have a part number on them. Find it and post. someone can tell you what it is off of.

Also if they stick, could just be the calipers. Same thing. find the part number and get them replaced.

If the fronts are sticking then you probably have an incorrect component in the system such as the wrong master cylinder (drum Master instead of Disc master), perhaps the incorrect proportioning block. The reason Mine stuck (and very light braking would lock all 4 corners) was that I was using a Drum brake booster versus a disc brake booster. My troubles went away when I found the culprit. Spindles themselves wouldn't cause sticking, the whole wheel rotates on the spindle. Maybe you have a problem with crud inside the caliper (or wheel cylinder if you have drum brakes) where the piston is.

I mention wheel cylinders because you were not clear on whether or not you had upgraded to disc brakes in your post.

What system do you see on there now?

I know the spindle won't cause it to stick. The thing is....since it does stick we are going to switch to Wilwood disc but can't remember what spindles we put on way back when. I'll just look for numbers on the spindles that are on there now or even go by the numbers on the bearings. I just thought someone on here knew an easier way.....no harm
