Im posting this here as well as the race section in case you guys dont go there..
\First off im just gonna say that it was great to meet everyone that I did this weekend. I have never had so many people introduce themselves to me by screenames.... I got a huge chuckle out of it, as its truly how we know one another.
Larry Kay and Lonnie Smith..... Top Knotch People..... Bondo, 340Rick, Prosport, Metal Circus, John Cope, Max Maniac, John Marks(sp) and his father, and everyone else that I met....Thank you guys so much for the kind words about the car, and taking the time to stop by as much as you did to check in and see how it was coming. I appreciate that a lot....
Now for the car..... First thing, when going to run the valves I find a lash cap had fell off one valve. Luckily it could not get its way to the oil drain back lines in the head or I would have been a very sad SOB. We then notice that the first four push rods on each side of the engine had gotten hot. Im sure this was caused by long idle times on the street with low idle oil pressure....so rockers off, push rods out, Over to my favorite engine builders (Scotty b1headman Koffel) for a quick polish in the lathe and make sure they werent too effed up.... got the green light and a slap to the back of the head for not getting the issue resolved earlier....back to the track for re-assembly and some shake down....
First pass down the track car would get to the 2-3 shift and act like it was on the limiter, which inturn made it feel like it didnt shift, then if I would lift the car would lose all boost and I could roll back into the throttle... 9.94 @136 that pass.....long story short all weekend we had the same issue all weekend and chased everything I could think may be a problem..... so my best pass was a 9.21 @ 151 with a 1.50 60foot time.
As for boost level, I would allow the wastegate to open fully at 2 lbs off boost, and just let the fact that it would slowly climb to about 12 lbs by the end of the track due to the fact that 1 wastegate is not enough for this engine/turbo combo
I had done everything under the sun trying to track down the problem... except check the MSD Digital 7 and double check how much timing it was pullin under boost, turns out my engine wont run at 10 lbs of boost and 10 degrees total timing... Im a maroon..... So last pass I made the change to lock it at 30 degrees total, and I forgot to reattach the boost reference line to the regulator so my final pass the car pulled the hardest it had all weekend, but nosed over as it ran out of fuel.... again, im a maroon....
But 9.21 at 151 with a 1.50 short time only using a 2 lb wastegate spring and just using boost creep to build the power having to lift and loose all boost at around 1/8th mile and roll back into the peddel isnt to bad at all in my opinion

Congrats, Josh! 151 mph tells you that its already got 8 second power. Just practice your launch, and you're there. You know, you could have picked up a tenth if you weren't dragging your wheelie bars down the track...

car looked great i was the guy talking with you about the dyno. look forward to seeing the full potential of this car very nice work
hey rick....whats up, good to talk to you.... so figured out the whole issue today with the car.... with a 7531 and a 3 bar map sensor 15.7 lbs is really 1lb of boost, on the timing retard map I told it to start taking timing at about 3lbs of boost at a 1:1 ratio to be very safe at first, but I should have started the graph at 17.7lbs because of the one bar of atmosphere i had to add, the car was taking timing while it was still making vacuum........so when I went 9.21 the car only had at the most 8 degrees of timing.......im a rookie what can I say....
