id think the shifter would contact the dash board...I know a guy who was planning on doing that in his 71 six pack vert...but itsa been 10 yrs and its still not done! I would think if prod line parts were avail to do it the factory would have offered it

Thanks for the post. As I read on I was hoping you were able to make the bench seat work. The sad thing is I converted my Barracuda from a automatic column shift car (with factory bucket seats) to a console shift slap-stik...and I really always wanted a 4-speed with a bench. If no one has been able to get this to work, I might stay with the automatic and find a nice floor shifter kit to keep my newly acquired bench. I really think it would be nice to cruise with my wife next to me, but I only like floor shift cars ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/violin.gif) . Anybody know of a sick looking automatic floor shifter?

Back in the day, 1979 in high school, my friend Carl did it to his e-body. He notched the seat in the middle so that the shifter cleared the seat.
His dad was an upholsterer. He cut the seat frame and made a c-notch, then cut the foam to fit and reupholstered the seat. It worked well and looked factory.
