Has anyone ever put a pistol grip in an E-body with a front bench seat? As far as I can tell it wasn't a factory option because the rear A833 bracket is used on E-bodies and the shifter may interfere with the seat. I was hoping somebody may have used 71-74 B-body linkage, hump, and bench seat pistol grip on an E-body before. Thanks in advance Moparts!

that should work as the floor pans are interchangeable. i haven't done it on an ebody, but i had that setup in a 74 satellite.

id think the shifter would contact the dash board...I know a guy who was planning on doing that in his 71 six pack vert...but itsa been 10 yrs and its still not done! I would think if prod line parts were avail to do it the factory would have offered it

Thanks for the post. As I read on I was hoping you were able to make the bench seat work. The sad thing is I converted my Barracuda from a automatic column shift car (with factory bucket seats) to a console shift slap-stik...and I really always wanted a 4-speed with a bench. If no one has been able to get this to work, I might stay with the automatic and find a nice floor shifter kit to keep my newly acquired bench. I really think it would be nice to cruise with my wife next to me, but I only like floor shift cars .

Anybody know of a sick looking automatic floor shifter?

Could you not cut and modify the bottom of the shifter below the boot to angle the shifter arm a bit so the shifter handle would be a little further back and a little further away from the dash?

Back in the day, 1979 in high school, my friend Carl did it to his e-body. He notched the seat in the middle so that the shifter cleared the seat.

His dad was an upholsterer. He cut the seat frame and made a c-notch, then cut the foam to fit and reupholstered the seat. It worked well and looked factory.

It looks like it might clear. This is a 3spd though.

A while back here on Moparts someone said he knew of one. Turned out the seat was notched/modified just like you mentioned. And it wasn't on the tag either.

I didn't read the thread but why wouldn't the 71-74 B body BENCH shifter work ?
