Im trying to get my son more consistent on the starting line. Our Mallory box has two provisions for rev limit. Naturally the high limit is for engine protection. We wired the second limiter into the brakelight switch so he can footbrake the car and floor the gas against the limiter to be more consistent. After I got thinking..... it occured to me that at the end of the run the engine is trapping around 6400, will there be any adverse effect on the engine as technically the limiter will be dropping cyls until the engine drops below 3500 rpm I dont think it will have any effect but I'd like some second opinions. Thanks Randy

Unless your running a stick which your not I think the r"s would drop real fast after you let up on the gas. You might change the place you have your two step wired to to a switch mounted right in the peddle, then just move his foot to the other side for braking.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I have a two step on my foot brake car and it is wired through the brakelight switch and a toggle switch. I have forgotten to hit the switch after the launch a couple of times and when I got on the brakes at the big end it really got my attention!

After I light the prestage I hit the toggle which then allows the two step to be active. Then after I launch and get into high gear, I turn the toggle off, disabling the two step.

You might want to consider adding a toggle or someway to interrupt the sign so the two step won't come on every time you hit the brakes.
