alright, i'm DONE WITH SLANT SIXES!!!! yes... i KILLED 2 almost 3!!!! C-12 Racing fuel really isnt good for em hahahahahaha. unfortunately, the other one spun a bearing and i had to find out AFTER the motor swap, that the previous owner used C-12 before taking it out....just my luck!! But back on ther main topic here, the car is getting a 340 in it and i want to make sure i have EVERYTHING before slapping it in.. i have k-frame, (keeping 6cyl torsion bars in for better hook), 904 trans, for a quick first gear, 8 3/4 with 355s, new wiring harness... is the linkage different from 6-8cy?? Can I bolt the new motor on the 8cyl Kframe and bolt it into the car from underneath?!??!... whats the easiest way to swap without ruining the new paint???? , besides patience lol!

From under neath is best in your case.
BTW C-12 race gas can't hurt a motor, can't.

i have a 72 duster with a points distributer... ppoints are right on and timing was smooth but didnt get the chance to use a timing light to check for sure
Sounds to me like someone had the timing way advanced, and someone was trying race gas to keep it from pinging which can't fix too much timing. So now there a hole in the piston from too much timing. Bet you wished you would have used a timing light.
And detonation pounds rod bearings to death.

yea... i really am kickin myself in the ass right now for not using the light.... This is one of those... Face meet palm moments!! it sounded smooth, ran strong... maybe too strong... the 340 wont be having that step neglected .. thats for sure... i care about that motor too much to just throw it in lol... eh crap... well the /6s were free and im young and learning... the hard way!!
