I used Omni SS in my engine bay. Never sprayed anything before and had acceptable results. Talk to your paint supplier, mine was very helpful with tips and advice. Tom

I would hit it with 80 grit and use a 2 component glazing putty unless you need major filling. Use 24 grit to rough the metal so you can guarantee adhesion with regular plastic. Sand, blow off and fill. I never wipe anything unless it's contaminated with oil/grease or something like that.

First suggestion is to use some quaility paint, Omni is crap. imo Yes you can sand and fill on top of paint. I'd rough it up with at least 220 so the filler will stick.
I agree, try using glazing putty like Icing ,it will save you alot of time feathering

I've sanded the insert smooth and need to wipe the dust off. What can I use to get the dust off and ready for primer?
Thanks for the help so far......I appreciate it.
