i was wondering what my hp might be with a 1965 383 board 30 over runnig stock heads/ any info?

It depends a lot on the compression ratio and camshaft. Exhaust and manifold/carb matter also. Can you post a bit more info?

got a 780 carb i believe, with full lenght headers, i dont think the cam is anything special, im tareing down for a rebuild and i was just wondering , thanks

The old goal of a basic performance build is 1 HP/cu in. That would be possible on a iron head 383 if you can get compression to around 9.5 with a moderatly aggressive cam. Rebuilt to stock specs, I guess HP would be in the high 200's.

A '65 likley has close chamber heads (what casting number or cc are the heads?) which makes getting 9.5 CR more doable. Usually getting the cr dialed in on a big bore/short stroke engine like the 383 is tough.

What pistons are you running??
Most pistons today sit down in the hole more than the originals and dropping the compression ratio.
