Are those still going on after labor day? Do you like the car?
I once saw a '79 5th Ave in a junkyard that had the handling package, which I'm pretty sure included the 125 mph speedo. Since the '79/80 5ths used a different font face on the gauges than the standard NY'ers, this must have been a really low-numbers part. Like a fool, I didn't take it.
In '81 the took away some of the exclusiveness of the 5th Ave (standardized the dash/seats/colors) and commonized a lot with the cheaper NY'er. As minor as that might seem, it was the only reason I didn't buy that car, and I might have; given a bit more time to think.
I loved those butter-colored leather seats that only came in the '79/80, but your car has the mechanical goods... I should have bought it, lol. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
