I received my Rb back from the shop, but the engine mounts will not clear the external oil line. I am hoping someone can post a pic of the way you have your line run. This is my last hurdle before I drop this bad boy in the car!

Help!

Pics attached.

...Was you planning on using stock mounts?

Yes. I used to run motor plates, but I am going back with the stock style mounts now.

I have seen several setups utilizing the stock mounts. I just cant remember how that ran their line. I think they use a front entry line into the pump, instead of the rear.

...Yes most do run the front radial port with stock mounts. I'm running a axle ported Muscle Motors cover & Shumacher Hemi Adapter mounts on a stock 440 K member. If you have to stay with the factory mounting, you will probably have to change covers, or maybe go to the Milodon pump w/front entry.

You have the wrong end cover for stock RB mounts. That cover will work with Hemi mounts but not RB. You need the cover with the line coming out the end - not the back. Buy the Muscle Motors one piece cover and solve potential gasket leaks at the filter mount at the same time!

Note: if you go with the front entry plate like a previous post suggests then you'll have to change the oil pump drive shaft/gear for the longer one as that plate moves the pump away from the block by about 3/4". You'll also need more/different fittings and a longer line.

The MM plate is the easy solution.

...If you decide to run the MM cover there is a O-ring issue (to me) to deal with. I'll show you latter.

...In my opinion the cover needs to be machined to remove the lettering from around the O-ring seat, & then redo the seat so it has no irregularities to cut the O-ring. Thats what I'm doing to mine.

As stated, you need a cover plate with the side hole/fitting. You could modify yours but the Milodon one that comes with the side hole has a boss for the additional hole so it may be a little thin on yours for the rquired threads. Also, if you do run the Milodon, think about eliminating the green filter adapter plate gasket and machining the cover for "O" rings instead. A number of threads on here talking abouot that modification.

Here's a few shots of how I got around the mount problem.

It appears that you have to cut the K Frame to run the top mount. Is that true?

Thanks.

...and if you wanted to get a little crazy on the "Pump Prime" Idea. (disregard the whimpy loom)

....No, his is cut because he's not useing a hose end that has a port fitting on it. look at my pic with the RED 120* hose end fitting, it's a closer fit & my K-frame is not cut. His cover appears to be a milodon though and I'm not sure as to what it wants O-ring wise.

Yes, there is a very small notch that was ground out of the K member. (see pic)

A friend of mine ran his through the mount much like thehemikid's picture shows. He had to modify a fitting to get the angle correct but it is an alternate way of doing it. The only downside is the line has to be left off one end or the other when removing or installing the engine and then attached once the engine is in place. Not a huge deal for most though.
