I am trying to mock up my mechaincal injection setup so I can figure out what lines and fittings I need I was going by the Hilborn diagram and they say to run the filter before the pump, but had a buddy tell me today to run the filter after the pump because the pump has to work to hard to get fuel through the filter and will cause it to burn out prematurely
So what are you running, what is the proper way
FYI......I will be running an Enderle pump #600 and Hilborn magnesium filter on alcohol

first I would run the alky thru a filter when poured.I have never seen mechanical pump work hard under any circumstances. How ever assuming that your friend has more knowlegde than Hilborn do it his way. Then he can help you rebuild the pump and remove the trash that caused the need for rebuilding

I run a filter before and after..... A kingsler one right after the pump and a big areo one before. Alcohol filters are not very small microns and flow very well. but on our pulling trucks our tank is higher then the pump so gravity helps!

you can see the red filter down low by the frame rail and the kingsler one right after the pump

Think of it this way.... filters are CHEAP instead
of a pump.... in a productin injected car there is
a tree collector before and a finer filter after...
you dont want a fine filter before or it puts a vac
on the pump... use bigger lines on the suction side...
its harder for the pump to suck the fuel in... its just
like the intake of the engine... the pump creates the
negative area and the atmospheric pressure pushes
it in
