I just installed new torsion bars and clips in my car. It has been years since I took it apart and the question I have is with the clips that hold in the torsion bars. is about 1/8-1/4" from the back of the bar. Is this correct? I don't think once the bar is loaded it is going to move but it just doesn't look right to me.

There is a groove in the hex socket. If it's in the groove then all is OK.

I really wouldn't call it a grove. Is it more like little hash marks?

A little gap between clip and back of bar is fine. I would make sure none of the "flats" are visible at lower control arm pivot. I usually shove them in pretty far, and clip is never touching bar.
