New combo. 13.5 to 1 513 based on a rb block with
a set of ported indy heads. What is a good starting
point on timing runing a crank trigger? Is 38 too much?
Thanks Guys.

I have on several simialr motors, (700+ HP) both ended up liking no more than 36 degrees on the dyno using race gas BTW, I do verify the timing indicator on the motor with the marks on the balancers to make sure TDC is exactly TDC

Hery i got kind of a nub question why do people put it all in at 3000 rpms or some other number?

For example:

I've seen 35 degrees all in at 3000, others say 38 degrees all in at 2400 rpms. depe3nding on motor! How does one know?

That's just a generalization.......Only way to know for sure would be to put it on a dyno.....but, some distributors with really tight springs might not come in until over 4K............

2,400RPM is too low IMHO........I shoot for 3,000 to 3,800, as long as it's all in by the converter stall point (I don't run anything any tighter than 3,800 stall anyway)..........
