I have an older BG400-2 with a BG5000 fuel filter. I think the wear plate may be going. Should I send it back to Barry to have checked and rebuilt after this season or is there a better setup out there. What are you using?

Product Engineering will rebuild it for you. I'd definitely NOT send it back to BG.
I run Aeromotive pumps on both of my cars.

Don't get the continual BG bashing on this site. He has more pumps on more cars than anyone else. When he started building high flow pumps there was NOTHING else comparable anywhere. I've had a number of BG pumps over the years and have never had a problem with any one of them other than some seeping seals as they got 4 or more seasons old. Send the pump back to BG and let them service their own product.

I learned from several friend's experiences w/ BG pumps. Everyone I know that has/had a BG pump had all kinds of problems with them and terrible service from BG when they tried to get them repaired.

Fair enough but I have not had that experience. In fact the worst experiece I've ever had with a fuel pump/service was with Aeromotive.

I've had excellent service out of Aeromotive's products and their tech support, but I've heard of people that haven't. All we can do is recommend what we've had personal experience with.

I have never had an issue with my BG pumps other than the seals as well. Quick easy fix for that, under $20.00.

I sent two BG 280 pumps back along with one of there dual outlet regulators to have them check them out and repair as nessecary.( I bought them used to use on my street Duster before I found out that they are not a street pump ) I sold both pumps to local drag racers several years ago, both pumps are still running strong

Just went through my pump last week...There is only one seal that goes bad, and these pumps are easy to work on.
Just get the seal and replace it, unless its needs other attention.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll send it back if it's that cheap. If something goes south I suppose I could worry about that bridge when I get to it.

Magnafuel ProStar 500...you'll never need another pump.

apparently, the truth about BG hurts some peoples' feelings...so i won't tell about the leaking BG pump that simply needed o rings that BG refuses to sell to the people that had already bought their product.
their sell-no-seals policy is no different than Nike wanting people to send their shoes in for new laces...dumb
wish i had saved that $79 towards a better pump.

I was having fuel pump issues at the track and borrowed a leaky BG from someone it was there spare they warned me not to buy BG because they have leakage issues mainly when stored dry.
