I used to be pro tom but after it taking 3 plus weeks to get my parts with little or no communication Im done with him.
I run a restoration business and when I place an order I need the parts delivered on time or it totally throws a wrench in my schedule and leaves me with angry customers.
He could at least call and say there is a problem.
If he is going to have a business he needs to run it like a business. Just my 2 cents.

I agree.... he's likely right at the place where hiring help would pay for itself in lost revenue.
Not bashing; just know poor small business practice when I see it.

Tom is a stand up guy and always does the right thing. How many other venders don not do so? Right now is show season so he might be a little hard to find at times. For me i make large orders for most of what i will need and then if i need additional i wait until i get intouch with him. Is it perfect no yes it would be better possibly if he had more help. But the way i look at it is these cars have been around over 30 yrs a week or 2 isnt going to kill it. If you cant wait then you should deal with another vender. But if the part is wrong or cust service is lacking than maybe you have learned a lesson.

Tom is good in my book. He even took the time to discuss some parts that can be interchanged and no one else knows about it. He also discussed several future projects I thought might be worthwhile. He stocks the stuff others wouldn't think about but without it, we would be hosed. I ordered my stuff months before I needed it but that is easy because I don't run a business, it is for a personal car.

"If you cant wait then you should deal with another vender",

So we should be at a vendors, (spelled vendor) mercy because they ship, or dont ship, when ever they may get around to it, after we have purchased an item?
Come on, thats no way to treat a customer.

"But if the part is wrong or cust service is lacking than maybe you have learned a lesson",

dont really know what you are trying to say there.

Dont get me wrong, Tom is a great guy. As I stated, at one time I was pro Tom.
But business is business. Dont tell me that its shipped and let me wonder for 2 more weeks where my parts are and not return calls.
"I will get back to you" means a day or 2 in my book. Not a week.

I have spent many thousands of dollars with Tom over the years, but dont see him making an attempt to change the way he does business, so I choose to go elsewhere.

Think of this as the Christmas season for Tom. He is EXTREMELY busy, everyone wants everything NOW and his elves are not there to help. If you are patient, Santa will make your dreams come true. Also, some cookies and milk help. Tom IS trying his hardest, but as I can attest to, being a one man show IS more than difficult, but as always, when no one else can, Tom will come through to save the day.

I won't buy from hom any longer either! I am a small business man and if I employed his practices I would have no clients!

The most upsetting was that when you get a hold of him he will take the order and not give you pricing! However, he does take your billing info. You're pretty much at his mercy then and when the parts come so does the grossly inflated bill. This parctice has cost him 12 years of my business and I will avoid him now resorting to any other vendor first.

Buyer Beware!!!!!!! If you buy from him, just make sure you get pricing up front to avoid the surprises I got!

I find this very hard to believe. The prices are on his website. Shipping is what it is, especially these days.

Plain and simple,if you can't meet the demand then fix the problem. If you can't fix the problem you should not be doing business.Promise's are easy to make but hard to keep.If you don't take care of your're business someone else will.Eventually you will be out of business.

Is it time for another R/T Specialties thread already?

I'll say the same thing I say every time; I don't know Tom, but by almost all accounts he's a great guy who has produced some quality, hard to find stuff, BUT if you find his customer service lacking do what I do: buy his stuff from Nick or one of the other vendors that carry his stuff. Unless I'm missing something, that solves the problem.

I admit that I'm impatient and I'm willing to put up the extra coin to buy Tom's stuff through a third party vendor.

Dave, You say extra coin, I have never done that!!! If someone needs me to get an order from Tom, I charge exactly what he has for prices on his website, not more!!!

I have had nothing but five star service from Tom,
communication is fantastic and delivery is good. Also, he knows his products and mopars very well.

Well its good to hear that he is at least meeting some customers needs.
I guess if he can satisfy even a small percentage of
customers needs he will get some kudos and stay in business.

I deal with Tom on a weekly basis and I have never had a problem!! My customers are always happy with the product he supplies. I have found the best time to catch him is right around lunch time late week.

To the contrary. I think far and away he meets MOST, if not, NEARLY ALL of his customers' needs.

I like Tom, but like others, I will not buy from him until he operates professionally.
During the restoration of my Super Bee, I found it very difficult to interpret when or if I was going to receive parts. Not only that, but on several occassions I received the wrong parts.
I don't want to be told "they are on the way" when they are not. I don't want to place an order online and not know when or if my stuff is coming.
I know he is a one-man show. I understand it's better to cut in the middle man and buy from one of the people who get parts from him. That's my plan for future products...not buying directly from Tom. I suspect it would be better for all parties involved.
