Add a leaf to the springs or have yours rearched.

Or buy new/aftermarket rear leaf springs. I have rearched stock springs giving me a lot of height in the rear.

Yup, I added a leaf to mine, cheap and easy just like me.

Air shocks are not what you need to use to raise a rear end. Shocks are not made to support the body weight and they will punch the upper shock mounts through the floor. Do it right and do it with springs.

correctly installed air shocks won't do that. they are sold specificly for the purpose of leveling the rear end load when hauling a trailer. i've used them for years with out a problem as long as they are installed right and not 'pumped' up to the max. springs are of course the way to go but the cheap quick fix is the shock.

As you say they are to help the springs when you load them. They are not to be used to do the springs job or to raise the car above the springs capacity to do so.

Which is exactly what everybody uses them for. I used air shocks on a rusted to hell dart and never had a problem. However after having had a car with the lift done by springs, I would never go back to the air shock route.

You remove them and take them to a local spring shop. They do it normally in a day and around here it costs $125. Then you are good for another 30 years.
