went in 85,took my a12 post superbee.they started to do the car drawing, started with exhaust and moved up to a 360 engine just before the 69 black roadrunner was going to be given away.they drew the number for the engine the guy had already left, they drew my number next.so i won the 360 engine,so i won the 360 engine,my girlfriend at the time had to say WHAT IF THE GUY WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO CLAIM THE ENGINE,YOU WOULD HAVE WON THE 69 ROADRUNNER,here i was happy with the engine.she always was a buzz kill.had the motor shipped to a local trucking company in HOLLAND MICHIGAN.ended up trading it for a 78 dodge d-100 slant six 4 speed with overdrive.i have a couple of pictures i will try to post.i think i still have the program from the 85 nats with centerfold being that black 69 roadrunner i believe motor city originals did the resto on it.GOOOOD TIMMES

Great pics/memories! Thanks!
Anybody have any pics of the 1985 giveaway car:
(1969 black 383 Road Runner) my friend Mike Lake
(who just died this past winter) won this
car that year. Incidently I didn't meet Mike until summer 1987, and was good friends with him up until his death.

Sorry to hear that your friend Mike recently passed away. There is a lot of material about the Road Runner he won in the 1985 Mopar Nats program. I have scanned all of it except the two page picture at the center of the booklet. I would require a large scanner or splicing scans together... or a digital picture of it.

Here is the material:

And an enlarged version of a notice in the 1986 Mopar Nats program...

You are even in the first picture... talking to the guy with the convertible.

GREAT pictures! Love the old school stuff like that white 70 GTX with the Centerlines and traction bars. Oh, and that silver 66 Charger that's all jacked up with the Cragars.

I have TONS of pictures from the Nats. My oldest pictures (and my first year) would be 1988. I was just a 19 year old kid with a 19 year old used car (69 Charger).

Before I go get some sleep, here are related Mopar trivia questions for y'all...

There is a Hemi engine in the attached picture. The car it is in was at the 1984 Mopar Nats in Indy. The questions:

1) What year/make/model is the car? (OK, that is too easy...)
2) What exactly is very unusual about the car?
3) Is the car known to be legit, or a known fake?
4) If legit, how many are confirmed to have have been produced with this unique feature... or if fake, how many well known fakes exist?
5) What US State did this car travel from to attend the 1984 Mopar Nats?
6) What was the first name only of the owner at that time? (Getting difficult now, Huh?)
7) What was the first name only of the owner previous to him? (Now that is getting unreasonable!)
8) What is the complete VIN of the car?

Just for fun... NO PRIZE! All the answers to the above questions have been discussed on Moparts at some point in the past, but some of the threads may be too ancient to find.

Allen, on scan 9 of 25, can you pull out and scan the 71 Road Runner with the plate "Mrs Cal". That car was at a show here in Milwaukee earlier tonight. Cal & Barb sold it and bought it back a few years ago. Neat car. Thanks for the pics of the Daytona too.

One of the coolest Challengers IMO. I think it was a 440-6 car.

That N94 1970 Hemi Challenger is one cool car. I know of two other breathers, not sure of just how many Challengers were produced with a hemi and N94 hood. I heard it was 3-4. Mccannix has a number of produced bases I believe. I have been looking for a lid for a while for my Breather but can not find one. I guess I will make one myself. Did the red car sell in the last year? and is it being restored is so.

XS29 thank you for taking all the time you did to bring back so many memories and so others that did not attend those beginning years can see that these cars were once fun to drive.

My pictures are on Video, I now wish I had clicked the camera.

Black R/T HEMI 4-spd - dead & gone
Red R/T HEMI auto - see above - got more pics?
Green R/T 383 auto -
Blue A66 340 auto - where did it go?

FYI: all 4 have the OPTIONAL J81 - rear spoiler & both HEMIs were ordered WITHOUT a radio.
