Have been chasing a low speed to part throttle miss on my 440. Can pull all wires one at a time (except #2) at the distributor with little effect on the idle or sound of the miss. Here's where i'm stumped, pull #2 engine dies every time, put a test wire with a plug to ground the engine runs the same as when the other 7 are removed one at a time. Any thoughts? I've tried new cap, wires, plugs, even changed to an optic pick up, same symptoms every time. compression is 172-179psi on all cylinders cam lobes intake +- .004 exhaust +- .003 Thanks Tim

put a test wire with a plug to ground the engine runs the same as when the other 7 are removed one at a time. Can you clarify this statement, not sure what this means. To me, this sounds like either a couple of bad wires or a couple of crossed wires. Which brand/size wires are you using?

Hi, have tried mopar direct fit 7mm wires, new just before driving to the nationals last friday, msd 8mm today, new cap + rotor today.
Test wire was the extra wire from msd set installed in #2 on distributor and sparkplug held on the engine block to see if it would spark.
As I noted, engine will start and run while I hold the plug to the block, Note that #2 cylinder has nothing hooked at this point. When I lift the plug i'm holding to the block the engine stalls.
firing is ccw 18436572 checked that many times.
Have you tried a new plug in #2. Sounds like the plug is shorting to ground under load.
