I have a set of pro comp heads on a 440 in a 71 cuda with an edelbrock six pack intake and demon six pack carbs. Is there any way i can get the shaker to fit right? I think the heads lift the intake up about 1" or so. Does anyone make an extra low carb adapter to drop the air cleaner down a bit? How close can the shaker safly be to the hood?
thanks

Are you 100% sure the heads raised the stock style edelbrock aluminum intake an inch? I used aluminum Indy EZ heads with the Edelbrock aluminum intake and the stock height Holley mechanical secondary carbs. It sits up higher than stock, and fits slightly tighter under the shaker hood, but it works fine and it looks cool sticking up higher. I've seen some that were so low the openings to the scoop are almost below the trim ring line.
You will likely need to modify your base plate to get it to work with your set-up. Either that or shim your K-frame down some.
I do believe the mighty mount engine mounts i'm using raised the engine slightly higher than the stock mounts though.

Mine fits real close to yours, (thanks for the picture) the front bottom of the bubble rubs on the bottom of the hood right before i latch it. If i push down on it it latches. How tight can the seal be against the hood?

do you have a picture of just the air cleaner? The back of my air cleaner is about even with the back of the hood without the trim ring on it and the front of the air cleaner sticks above the hood about 3/4 of an inch? thanks

I'm not sure if you can see what you need from this picture, but from what you are describing, you're going to need to get things lower either by shimming your K-member and/or modifying your air filter so the bubble sits lower.
