Whats the highest RWHP anyone has achieved out of Magnum 360 block?

Seeming i dont have the funds to switch anytime soon to an R3 block just wondering how far anyone has pushed the envelope on a factory Magnum block.

I have dynoed just under 700 RWHP on my Magnum 408 with 14 lbs boost and would love to push things a bit farther, so looking for anyone who has.

I think you've exceeded the limit, LOL I don't know of any other Mag motors making that much at the tires. Have a friend with a turbo 360 in a Gen 2 making around 600hp, he wont give exact numbers though. Come on over to my message board: www.racemagnum.com/index.php you will find more Magnum truck owners making power. Warning: we have no rules there, but we like technical stuff.

Well looks like we are going to stretch the envelop a bit farther sometime this fall as my garage says we are taking a shot at a 9.9X pass. Basically if all the conditions are right, temp, humidity, track prep etc and truck is running lets say 10.2-10.3 then we will turn the screw and add a touch more boost and take a shot at the 9 sec number. They really think the truck can hit it so guess we are going to find out or need the broom to sweep off the track.

I asked that question before I started my build and the consensus was a safe 600 crank hp. There were a lot that said they were making 650-700 rwhp though, but the longevity will be determined later.

I am going to be conservative and shoot for 650 rwhp for now.

What have you done to the block? Mine is partial filled, 2 bolt billet caps, main and head studs.

1/3 partial fill, and a Hughes main girdle. Caps are stock, ARP main and head studs and running an SCE copper head gasket with o-ringed heads.

Turbos are fairly easy on the engine. It's nitrous and rpm that are the two big engine killers.

712 here but I only have maybe 10 passes. I've been doing alot of daily driving with it the past month. I also have the LA main webbing and a short fill along with billet caps.

We figure we need about 800 rwhp to hit a 9.9X pass which is easy for me to obtain with about 3 more lbs boost but man that is pushing things.

Also consider my paxton is using up some of the power but I have a manual.

What stories have you heard of blocks failing? I know you had an issue but you also said many things could have caused it. Slammed's block is still good even after melting a piston and he as tons of passes. Most people dont push a magnum block this far so I dont think we know its true limit. IMO the 500rwhp limit theory has been busted.

haven't heard anything however we all know there is a limit i'd rather not be the first guinea pig ...lol

I'm betting not many if any have ever hit a 9 sec pass on a magnum factory block.

I had the same question as you guys. I have a '91 block (basically a magnum), 2/3's fill, ARP main studs with stock caps (no girdle), stock rods (ARP bolts), and Probe SRS forged pistons...

I thought 500RWHP was the limit, but it sounds more like 600RWHP is a more realistic limit.

Thoughts?

I dont think many have. I know chad is going for 8's with a magnum 408, 46RE, and a 400 shot.

I bet it would be way easier if your truck didn't weigh close to 5,000 lbs!

I could probably run 8.90s if I took my drivetrain out of my truck and put it into something as light as my '69 Camaro was. Big weight is a killer.
