Went out to get fuel for the Challenger to take to Nats and when i turn my headlights on nothing. I did however get all my running lights and dash lights. What could be the problem?

I was thinking a headlight switch but not sure.

Please let me know!

Thanks,

Steve

I'd mess with the switch, wiggle it around. If you have a simple light tester, you can trace back to where the problem is. My switch was a little loose and my headlights weren't turning on but i messed with it a little and they came on. Another spot that i've had to mess with is the bulkhead connector with loose wires and other junk. Best bet is start with a light tester and trace it starting at the bulkhead. good luck. look for me in my bee, are you parking on show field side or the other side?

You checked the fuses, did you?

Do you have original wiring or any upgrades such as relays for headlight?

After all these years having a 440 I realized that this means having an attitude... and a budget.

Steve,

I restore all of the E body switches including headlight and the dash dimmer. I will be at booth K1 in the parts swap section if you want to stop by and we could take a look into it.

Jim

Check the ground wires.

Same here, happened to me a while back at night, the dimmer switch connector was halfway off, and I had absolutely NO lights in the car.

First start a little easier. Check the bulbs yes sometimes they both go out. If not get MR. test light out and start poking

Another vote for the dimmer switch or bulbs.

I think your headlights are on a circuit breaker. Not a fuse. Saftey feature.

Test both sides of the fuse contacts in the fuse box with a test light. I had rust that needed to be cleaned up to make continuity. Jiggling the switch and stuff like that is just making a feedback situation that leads to false conclusions about needing a headlight switch.

Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen! Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!
