I'm ready to splurge on a new wheel for my a12 bee and Id like some honest opinions on the new repop wood grain wheels that are out there now. Does anybody own one that can give me their opinion, or am i better off restoring an original that are tough to find ?? Thanks

Well the repops are easy to spot. I would and have gone with restored or nice OEM wheels myself.

I compared my NOS to a B/E+A wheel at carlisle a couple years ago , it's a nice repop but needs a couple things done to make it look closer to an original , the biggest issue is the polished spokes should be brushed .

depends on what you want out of the finished product or your intentions for the car.

To me an A12 car deserves a correctly restored / original or an nos.

The repops the grain is different and the polished spokes are both killers, but thats my opinion

The polished spokes are the easy part, I can take care of that before it ships.

About the same as finding a good used original, restoring it and putting all new parts on it.

Bill,...I take it from your post, you don't have a 3 spoke woodgrain wheel?, or if you do?, it's beyond repair?,...if so your best bet, if you can't find a decent priced original, they usually range from $300-$1200 depending on condition,...is to purchase the BEA/parts.com wheel from Mike Ross,....if original looking, as far as texture/color/sheen is what your after, it can be modified by you, or sent out to be "restored",...or perhaps you may be pleased with it's current appearance,....as not everyone likes, or needs the same attire in their car

here's the BEA/Parts wheel

Mike, I don't have - nor need a woodgrain wheel at this time. My customer already had his Cuda wheel done , I wouldn't be happy with it but he is and thats all that matters.

But I've seen the repop wheels and , And don't get me wrong are nice and fill a much needed void.
But, are nothing like an original , thus why I said - 'depends on your intentions for the car'

The wheels you can get. Rusted cracked original, NOS, restored, worn uncracked original, reproduction; in no particular order. They each sell for a different price. When I look at a car interior at a show it's pretty obvious which one is on the steering column.

If you actually drive the car it will wear, so buy accordingly. Good luck!

Option, a lot had them, a lot didn't. Hard to say how it came without the broadcast sheet, I am restoring a bee right now and unfortunately I have the broadcast sheet which tells me it didn't have it. Guess it saved me some money. They look great, might throw one on anyway.

Of course we do the rimblow wheels, they take up the majority of our work. We can replace the switch in any rimblow steering wheel made including all Mopar, Ford, AMC and GM models. We have new switches in stock so turn around is typically the next day.
