Hi,

Anyone have any suggestions for replicating the SS-#### type stampings found on various pieces of sheetmetal? The font doesn't seem special as even the $5 set of Harbor freight stamps match very good. However getting them to make an original type indentation isn't straightforward. Anything reasonable out there for doing this? For instance the inner rockers are stamped from the inside and show a halfway legible backside impression. I'd like to put this into the AMD replacement inner rocker, door jamb, etc.

Thanks,
Jeff

If your trying to duplicate the numeral impression, use a block of pure lead behind the sheetmetal when you strike a chracter die, for a "factory" looking appearance ....McMaster Carr.com if you have access, has many lettered and numeral die sets, individual chracters and sets, custom made dies are available too, esp if you want to duplicate a stamped multiable sequence number repeatately, you can have a multi character 1 peice die stamp made to your spec, font size, standard and reversible for around $25-$100 depending on your requirements, rather than stamp the characters individual for a professional appearance

Perfect. Thanks Mike! I'll give that a shot I've tried to duplicate stampings in the past, but never tried lead as a backing. Cool...

Is the purpose to imply that repo panels were not used?

Yea, that was the goal. So it doesn't look too obvious when the stampings are missing (like on the door jamb pillars).
