hello, i am working on this 518 trans, the book says the clearance for a 4 clutch disc should be .067 to .134, is this correct, for one this pack in this unit only has 3 clutches in it, there are 4, thinner clutches that went into the rear(fwd)drum? I did notice the steels are thinner then to old ones, but they are burnt. I have .120 for the front clutch pack w/3 clutch disc (thicker disc)

does this seem ok,

thanks

oh i have .026 on the fwd/rear drum

There are some different ways to get 4-6 clutches in it. If you get a different drum, with a snap ring grove up higher it is easy.
It really needs more than 3.

It needs .015 clearance per pair of cluches.
S0 with 4 pair you need .060.
Just to educate you on these, the clearance is one factor in the shift quality.

i now have .026 for the rear, and .097 for 3 disc in the front, does seem seem better, I can go tighter on the front as i have 2 steels at .086 and 1 at .068. in there now. I can remove the .068 and add the .086?
