I'm kinda stumped on this one - I start the car and let it idle, and the fuel pressure slowly drops off from 6-1/2 psi to zero, and then the motor dies, takes about ten minutes.
70 Charger, stock tank, new 1/2" pickup/sender, 3 inches of rubber line to hook up to #8, over to a Holley black pump, then a moroso in line #8 filter, then #8 up to the regulator, splits with a #8 to each fuel bowl, Holley 950hp carb, on a 500 inch stroker. Everything is new but the tank.
the 1/2 pickup has a return vapor line fitting, that I just have a plug in, stock vent tube on the filler neck is new and in place. I have a jegs liquid pressure gauge in the front fuel bowl line. I just pulled the fuel filter and all looks ok.
Too big a fuel line? Do I need to run a fuel pump witha return line? any other ideas where to look? Appreciate any ideas! Fresh repaint/rebuild, I'd love to get it out of my garage and go for a ride!

First thing... drain the oil out of your fuel gauge that oil get hot under the hood and presses back on the guts of the gauge giving bad numbers(pull the rubber plug and turn it upside down.... next... open the gas cap and blow air into the pick up to try and blow the sock off the pick up tube... then re try put a filter(screen style) before the pump to catch and big loose stuff that might be in the tank... also make sure the vent is open
Welcome to the jungle

I'd try running it with the gas cap off first. Don't have any lines routed near the exhaust where you could have fuel vaporizing in the lines? Next I'd go to the fuel regulator. Have you tried pumping off a few gallons to visibly check flow? Fuel guages can act strangely on dead-head systems, but you shouldn't be reading "0" or running out of fuel unless you have a restriction on the suction or pressure side. I assume the pump runs constantly?

I just re-read your post and seeing that you changed over to a 1/2" pick up we will assume you have a new sock on it so you can cancel that part but being a old tank you can still have trash being sucked onto the PU also have you drained the tank to see what you have in there
