Just got two of them. My tranny guy says one is for parts. It has a tranfer case tailhousing on it. Other was new, but still needed going through. They have significance in their history. Both had Art Carr stickers on them.. One has a HD SFI 727 Bellhousing on it.. Pics when I get them back.. Are they worth keeping in my attic?

Clutchflites use to be called "the poormans lenco". I wonder if anybody is still building them.

I have about 6 in various stages of repair. Someday I intend to use one. They make a lot of sense.

They are great in concept, but the reality was, the clutch assy. caused such havok on the input shafts and one way sprags, they couldn't keep them together.

There is a so called "rat charger" owned by one Mike Roth that is slated to have one installed...that is if he can stay off the fruity porn long enough to get it done

With today's clutch technology, maybe they would work pretty good. Doesn't seem like they would be worth investing a lot of money in though, at that point why not put in a clutchless 4 or 5 speed?

I would think most sanctioning bodies would frown on them - I guess if you had a nostalgia car and wanted to be period correct it would be OK - but to use one today in modern drag car today - no thanks! I am sure some of the gasser guys might buy the trannies and parts from you - they get excited for any old speed parts.

Thanks, guys.. The Mopar piece I have is rumored to have been in the Queen Daytona, but Willie isn't sure. He said Tomiko's car had one in it for a short time, and these are the only two he's ever had. I will have them at the Nat's.. Is there a way to build them safer? Why would somebody put or have a tranfercase snout on it?

Here is one of my transmission project shelves with a few Clutchflites tucked in with the Viper T56.

You can see the Fairbanks standing vertical...and the B&M in black paint with the short tail and the famous mechanical guy sticker.

I have a very good friend who just happens to be the guy who built these with Art Carr. I have sent him a link to this post to see if there is any thing he would like to add. If anyone has specific questions about the unit, let me know and I'll ask him.
