We found the sticker under the dash when we took out the heater box. What does it mean? C.hrysler cleaner air package to reduce exhaust emissions The car is a 68 RR sept.67 383 hp 4 speed p/s a/c Lynch Rd. Thanks everyone
I think it may be discribed with pictures in the 68 repair manual.
I wonder if it has one of those green distributor vacuum control units? Page 14-3 of '68 service manual.

If this is the decal, then as stated above it came with this distributor vacuum control package
The instructions in that picture say "used car..."
Is that a kit for like early 70's California regulations where they had to retrofit car for NOX?
Now on the original posters car, was that original equiptment installed at the factory? Do all 50 states get those with certain drivetrain combos?

That is the decal. Was there any thing else? What air cleaner would be correct. Unsilenced? Thank you
In your other post you listed a part number on the decal - do you have a picture.
In the 1968 model year - OPTION code 471 "Clean Air Package" was mandatory in California ONLY on all Mopars, it was a $25.00 option on Road Runner.

Have you checked out Nick's garage? There is an air cleaner id page. I believe it goes on top of the intake on the right bank toward the rear, not sure on a 383, if there is a cast in location there.

Both my AAR & my '72 Cuda have California emissions packages. I thought that just meant the charcoal canister that vacuum lines run to/from.

IIRC, '68 was the first year for federal emissions guidelines. It was pretty limited, mainly the hose from the valve cover breather to the air cleaner, and in the case of the AVS carbs, lead plugs were pressed in over the idle mixture screws to prevent tampering. And from that point, California added their own rules.
