Mines a 540 with 572-13 heads, and I used 2 1/4 tubes into a 4 inch collector. I think they were Indy header flanges, and just cut up some U bends, and made them. It's a nitrous motor, but just running all motor with 3.89 gears, tight convertor, and nitrous cam, it went 10.0's @ 136 on the first shake down runs of the year, at 7500 ft + DA, I think the tube size etc. is pretty close?

Tom, I believe Monte Smith ran those headers on his GTX when it had a Mega block, and -1 heads.

2 1/4 Custom headers here. On our old 528 motor we went from 2 inch to 2 1/4 and picked up some et. Can't remember exact but think it was around 1 to 1 1/2 tenths., this was when we were running lo 10's too.

From what I have heard, being a size too small and having sharp bends right at the flange is a bad combo, worse than either by itself. If It were mine, I would go the extra mile and do it right the first time. I get away with 2 1/8 tubes, but I think the reason is they come straight off the heads and over the frame rail, so they have a ten inch plus straight shot out of the port before the first bend. I run a thirty inch long tube, four inch collector.

is anyone using the Lomons header for a combination like this and maybe have some pics.
Hi Tom
Brian aka OldSchool has a custom set of big tube headers on his 580 motor that made 850+ hp. He told me that the shop headers (2 1/8 step) made the same power as his custom headers when they dynoed the motor

On my 557" I run 2 1/8 x 2 1/4 x 32" with a 4" collector. It made more power then the shops dyno headers that were 2 x 2 1/8 x 4"
