Due to the shipping cost of a package tray I decided to make my own. Also not worried about factory correctness plus it looks better than original in my opinion.

4'x8'x1/8" panel board from Lowes cost $12

4'x6' black vinyl from facbric shop on sale cost $11

I had the spray adhesive and contact cement already. Spray adhesive between the vinyl & panel board and contact cement on the backside after leaving 1.5" extra vinyl around the outer edge of the package tray.

Speakers hold the package tray down so no need for the little clips.

Turned out great and cost $23 with no shipping cost plus I have enough material for a second one if ever needed.

I did pretty much the same thing to my dart. The old package tray was wrinkled up and broken into a few pieces, so i was able to us it as a rough pattern. I used some material that closley resembled my seats.

Good job! Yep, I did the same too and made it white to match my upholstery. It's held up well. I had to put some insulation under it otherwise it vibrated.

I made mine out of some anti-fatigue mat. Doesn't look factory but it works and matches the floor mats I made form the same sheet of anti-fatigue mat. I hold it down with some double sided tape.

I never made a package tray but I did make door panels. The original boards in all 4 were rotting, but had nice vinyl. So I removed the vinyl, and cut need ones and hot glues them on... worked great and much cheaper than new ones.

I made it on same material, and made the slots with a drill. Not a perfect job but pretty decent. Then painted with matte black can. I don't like fabrics there.

The material I used it calls SCHOLTZ CARDBOARD or something like that

Then I got a REM repro tray... arrived broken... ( international courier faults ), and the one I made will be still on my car for mooore time

Back in the 90's, I needed a package tray for my Aspen. I found a piece of thin Oak veneer plywood at Menards, cut it so that it fit correctly, stained and sealed it. I cut holes for aftermarket 6 X 9 speakers, used the speaker covers that came with them, and used some thin padding under the plywood to eliminate vibrations. I thought it looked good, and it wasn't going to ever fall apart. I thought about cutting thin slots in the plywood for the speakers to eliminate the speaker covers and have a little more 'factory' look to the tray, but decided that was too much work for my POS Aspen.
