i have a dana 60 out of an old ford truck i want to cut it down to fit my 70 cuda the axles are 16 spline and the guts are new. 355 gear posi is this a good rear to use? also who makes 16 spline custom cut axles for this ? and one last question does anyone one know the length cut for each side of the tubes thanks for the help!!

I've never heard of a 16 spline one.
Are you sure you are counting then right?
16 would be very small.

Contact Dr. Diff on this board. You most likely have a very good sure grip unit (as in Powr Lok) and he can supply you with 35 spline side gears and axles for it. You do not want to stick with 16 spline axles but it can easily be upgraded.

Is this a full floating rear end? You will need new axle ends to work with a semi floating car axles.

Also, those axle tubes are probably brutally thick. Might not be a bad idea to drill out the plug welds and press the old tubes out and replace them with thinner wall tubes. It's not really necessary, just a your preference if you want a lighter axle assembly.
