I've seen a few posts here that Magnum motors respond really well to being carb'd and put in older platforms so I thought I might ask for some opinions on replacing the EFI on my 92 Dak with a carb, RPM intake and MSD.

It's a 92 Dak RC shorbed 3400 lbs. 5.2L A518 3.55 open.120K on the clock and runs great.

The only Mods are a K&N filter and Flomaster muffler. It's lowered 2 in the front and 4 in the rear with R/T wheels.

It went 15.0 @ 90 with a 2.19 60ft with obvious tire spin. It has 275/60/17 rear tires that measure out to 30". I only used 1st and 2nd and hit the rev limiter (5200RPM) about a lenght before the traps.

I have since hung a 3.92 LSD in it and it runs MUCH better but I have not got an ET since.

How much do you guys think it might pick up if any?

I think if I just unplug the injector harness the rest of it should still be run by the computer but it will just set a code.

The computer will still see RPM and MPH but not seeing the TPS may screw me for correct lock up operation but not a deal killer.

I do however have a non lockup A518 if it comes to that and I know I need a bigger converter for the KRC 210X cam I want to use.

I'm just trying to avoid that $600 PCM flash from B and G and being stuck with a can tune.

SCT won't work on OBD I. I have that on my 98 5.9L limited.

B&G on their website say to call for more info so I dunno if that means they still do it or not.

That's why I'm at the point of goin the carb route.

My memory may be fuzzy,
but is seems like several years ago
a guy named Mike Leach (?)
was making exhaust headers for Magnum V8s
but also had a side business
flashing OBD-I PCM computers too,
perhaps sending them out
to another specialist, but not B&G,
name may have been Tom Fox.

Anyone have a current address?

I know Mike Leach made headers for Jeep Grand Cherokees but I dunno about Daks.

I have heard the name Tom Fox but not sure where.
