With the weighted flexplate and a symmetric pattern, what stops you from mounting it in the wrong orientation??
"When the factory changed to a weighted flexplate they also changed to a symmetric 90° converter bolt pattern"
Since the weight is on the flexplate where the converter ends up doesn't matter. The converter has a neutral balance.

All he needs if he's going to use a stock factory shortblock is a flexplate from a later model 360 magnum that has the weights on it, then he can run a "N" balanced converter,
When the factory changed to a weighted flexplate they also changed to a symmetric 90° converter bolt pattern, the 727 and 904 converters have one drive lug offset so the newer flexplate won't work on the 904 without elongating one hole.
Forgot about mentioning that too (i useally do), but still its a no brainer really, longgate the one hole & walla!! I ended up enlarging the holes on mine to exept the 7/16" bolts for my PTC, worked out great
