i even think the early 383 from '59 & '60 had hydraulic lifters

B 383's: yes, all hydraulic. The sonoramic would have been an RB 383, not too sure about them. The only motors I'm aware of that came with factory solid cams were the Max wedge motors, and the pre-69 street Hemis.

The other interesting note is: All 383's had forged crankshaft's from MaMopar.
