this is my first small block that i've messed with what kind of advance do they like. im running a comp 274h & 10to1 compression cam is broke in just looking for a place to start thanks ozz

This should be in the ballpark:
18 to 24 initial, all in around 22-2600rpms, 34 total timing.

18-22 initial
32-36 total depending on heads/fuel.

Depending on what the engine likes, I typically end up around 38*-39*....Low compression 340's like timing. Current 360 is at 39*. Initial to me is useless, whereas total can kill the whole engine. I never set initial, it lands where it lands. But I also run the light weight springs for a faster advance.

thanks all just put the pertronix kit in and trying to get the vacuum advance moved to where the hose doesent get pinched up against the manifold hopefully running again soon ozz
