Building my son his first toy. 72 datsun truck, box frame, Dana, ladder bars,440,727. Motor is 76 low compression all stock. I have mechanical rockers and building on a budget. What mechanical cam to use? I have stock duel plane or TM 7. 1 7/8 headers, 750 edelbrock Carb, and 2400 stall. May buy new converter at higher stall

Twin turbo 440 72 barracuda

Use the TM-7 it's pretty good. Don't bother with a cam swap until you get the block decked/heads worked a 'lil/compression ratio way upped--etc...
But if you must don't go anywhere near the .484 purple--even that is way too much. Go smaller or better yet-leave it alone. I'm sure a Datsun truck with a 40 will be plenty for a while. This is my best advice.J.Rob
