Looks like a nice one to me.
I forget who I got mine from but I have to use a car jack on both ends to jack it up.
I like the hydraulic jacks.....I'm lazy lol.
Also mine has the bottom supports from front to back on on both sides of the main units which is a pain cause you are always steppin on them.
Mine does have a convertible option though which I had to have....dunno if you need it or if the one you are lookin at has one.
Good lookin unit.
Jerry

I have the Auto Twirler unit, have used it on 3 cars so far. It's been a real nice unit for the money. I have transported it with cars on it and even painted cars on it. IMO the jacks are mandatory.

I drove up to Indy to pick mine up to save freight, but the biggest reason I wanted to pick it up was to see how they mounted cars on it. They were real helpful and gave me the whole tour of there shop, I learned a bunch that day.

It allowed me to get the car really clean before any blasting took place.

thats the one I have, and I have ZERO complaints with it. We've used it several times so far.I bought mine used from a buddy of mine who bought it new. So far it's had 3 1970 challengers, one 1970 cuda, a 67 Coronet, a 66 satellite and now a 1970 chevy malibu on it. Hopefully a 1969 Daytona is next. and then a 72 Olds cutlass vert after that

I have a whirly jig and have recently put my 71 Cuda Convertible on it. I originally thought the two tubes would be a problem with tripping over them but I have not had a problem yet.

There are many very nice features of the whirly jig that a lot of the other rotisseries don't even offer. If the bottom tubes are a problem with tripping over them you can remove then to work on the car. The end supports will self support the car. The method of clamping the tubes and the body brackets does not allow the tubing to crush which keeps the body at a right angle to the ground. This eliminates binding in the rotation devices and allows the car to be rotated very easily if properly balanced. Also the method of balancing the car about the center of gravity allows for the car to be held in any angle even without any of the locks in place.

The whirlyjig looks real nice, but I think the twirler will fit the budget alot better. Is there any special adapters for the E bodies I should get also. Thanks, Matt

Don't be penny wise and Dollar foolish. The Whirlyjig is much bettrer quality than any other unit out there and very user friendy. The Father/Son that make it are good guys with great customer service. I bought mine at the Mopar Nats they had a special on them. Well worth the money.

Whirley Jig pro model here, bought back at the 94 nats and other than some overspray on it, looks and works like new. My plates are setup to fit b and e bodies. I wouldn't do a car without one ever gain!

Yes,

First I steam pressure washed the whole car, got all the under coating and grease off.

Then blasted the bottem and insides with coal slage. Took about 2 hours of actual blasting to do that. That night I welded in the torque boxes and frame connectors.

Sun I did the outside body panels with plastic media. It took about 200# of media and about 2 more hours of blasting. It doesn't take near as much media and alot less mess when your not blasting grease and under coating, which sure as heck won't help paint adhesion. Ready for some pictures??

Here's another car I did with the pressure washer before any blasting takes place.

It don't take much blasting when there this clean which stresses the metal much less.

This is the compressor I use, No shop compressor will do it.
Hope this helps.

I've got the AT1500 from Accessible Systems, what I really love about it is the clamp system on the "T" bars that allow for infinite adjustment to get the car exactly balanced. I can spin the car easily and its extremely stable. I also vote for the water blasting (you gotta have HOT steam)to clean the undercoating. Check out the before and after photos, this one had very thick undercoating. It took about 6 hours to get it this clean.Notice the original dip primer visible on this 33K mile Hamtramck car.I didn't even have to use any media to clean this one but I always use "black beauty" (coal slag)when I need to blast but it's way too aggressive for the outside.

I've been recently looking at rotisserie's to help my restoration. But Being that my summer job will just barely make enough money to buy all the sheetmetal i need to repair the rust, it's a tough decision to spend that much money. If you have an everyday job and can afford to restore a car in the first place i can understand buying one, but being that i'm a teenager and only have a summer job to support my restoration is it really worth it? Another question is, what happens if your rear frame rails are ROTTEN through and through and you barely have a trunk left? The rotisserie won't really serve you any good untill you get your trunk and frame reails replaced, so by then your already halfway through rus repair? I could see borrowing a friends or renting from someone, but in my case, what's the sense in buying one?Any advice for me?
