I have never used it. But my Friend had it in his car and it sounded wicked!

Real good cam IMHO..I'm using it again in my new 440.Makes good power, isn't hard on valve train, works very well in mild combos.

Same overall results in a +.030 340, stock stroke. Very good bracket race cam.

Ask Ron he runs 11.40's in a big old plymouth with iron heads and full exhaust. Good cam from what I hear.

Yep, it sounded good.

milder than it looks on paper. my turd ran good, but was a tiny bit soft down low, prolly because of the 110 lsa. i went half a tenth quicker with a 509, way nastier idle, and way more bottom end. talk about the best of both worlds!

Hey guys ...

A idle is a GOOD thing ....this is going to be for a boat ... probably retarded for more power/rpm UPstairs.

What valve springs did you use?

For a fair comparison, where did you have each cam installed? (I/C)

The 557 really is a good cam. works well with stroker engines, and hot street cars. It doesnt kill low speed torque and idles much better on the street than the 590.
The 590 is a good cam also. But for a milder engine, and one that does street duty the 557 really works well. And really responds to engine mods too.

We had that camshaft in my brothers 394" small block with unported edelbrock heads and that car went a best of 11.09 @ 119 mph at 3370 lbs. It made 513 hp on a DTS dyno as well. This was a pump gas engine. We like them especially for a tight budget. Oh yeah, this sounded wicked and was actually very streetable. Of course we had a Street 10" Turbo Action converter and 4.30 gears as well.

10.53 @ 125mph. 1.37 60 foot. Caltracs and Monoleafs, AFCO shocks.

A big old Plymouth !! Why its one of the lighter B-bodies Ma made. Actually my 63 goes just over 3700 with me in the car. And you are correct as I use the .557 cam in my 63's 440 and also in the 400 in my boys Dart. And I do use 906 heads on my 10.0 comp .030 over 440. She will run fine on 92 oump and I myself love the .557 cam. It works great on the street in my car as the idle is just the sound I love. And its not to nasty at all for the street but will make good power. I guess it sounds nastier in the smallblocks. I have mine on a 104 centerline as I wanted good low end since my car is a street car that I drive alot on the street. It has run a best of 11.49 with a 1.57 best 60 so I guess the bottom end is not to bad. And thanks for the kind words. Ron
