Went to cruise-in last night, got ready to move car so other people could park. Would not start. I have a 440 with msd 6a and msd blaster 2 coil. I have had problems with starting at home before, but blamed it on eddy 750 carb. A nice gentlemen parked next to me came over to help. He pulled off breather and we decided I was getting fuel but he said maybe no fire to plugs. He pulled off coil off dist cap and had me crank it over and had spark. He put coil wire back on and said should be ok now. Guess what? That thing fired up on first crank. He said coil is going bad and he said we just reset exicter in coil. Has anyone heard of this before? Thanks!!!!!

Never heard of that.Ive been wrenching for 40 years and I say bull.No way to reexcite the coil. The coil wire might have been out of the coil a bit but it still should have fired. Not saying the coil might be going south. What coil do you run?Rocky

Thanks for your reply. Before when I have had trouble I have pulled plug and wire to check for spark and no fire, then all of sudden it started firing. No problem after it starts, runs great. What should I check next??? THANKS!!

Go between test light ground and the wire that goes to points.Make sure the light has a good groumd. It should flash when you crank. If it doesent and you have power in and out of ballast check the bulk head connector or ign switch.Rocky
