I've got a 1992 Dakota 5.2L, auto. MP computer, Accel coil, transdapt spacer, and free flow exhaust. The truck starts and runs excellent until it warms up to operating temp. Then it will idle very low and stall. It drives down the highway fine with lots of power. I've changed the complete throttle body c/w sensors; fuel pump, filter and regulator; and the PVC valve. No noticed vacuum leaks. This problem stared after I overheated it pulling a trailer over mountains. I'm thinking about changing the keg style intake to another I've got laying about - maybe warped?

Any other ideas would be great, or am I on the right track?

One more thing, if it runs to operating temp in the driveway - no problems. It's just after driving it for awhile the truck will not idle.

Maybe the idle air control valve? A bad valve will cause the engine to stall as soon as you let off the throttle. Another thing to check would be the egr valve. Pull the valve and make sure that it is closed. Then remove the vacuum line and plug it. Start the engine and see if it is better. Another thing to check is the 0/2 sensor. On my 92 it would cause a miss as soon as the truck would warm up. Shop around, I found one for $35. Good luck.

Codes? Scan tool data? Without this you are truly flying blind. We have a similar issue with our Ramcharger (96 Dakota drivetrain). It is most likely the computer, but I know this because it is reporting an incorrect MAP reading with the proper voltage for the idle vacuum reaching the computer. I would be lost without the scan tool data.

I have swapped out the computer with the stock one, and it made no difference.

I believe the idle air valve is on the back of the throttle body, so I've changed that too.

I have not done anything with the EGR, as I didn't want to break bolts.

Just had the same problem with my 93.Crank sensor fixed it.Also, have you repaired the 3 wire connector in the harness under the power distribution box next to the battery? The three red wires that are crimped into one are notorius for corrosion at the crimped connector..
