I'm prepping the old bracket car for some street duty. It presently has a moroso electric driving the water pump. Works fine for bracket racing but I have my doubts about street use. As I'm installing a alternator anyway, would I be better off belt driving the water pump?

Thanks, Bobby

I ran one on my wife's street/strip Duster for a couple seasons.I used the smaller pulley on the electric motor to speed up the water pump though.
It only had a 10.4 to 1 Aluminum headed 360,something with more compression might put out too much heat for it to keep up.

Not only heat issues, but amp draw issues @ idle. I'd go with a belt driven 6 blade modified pump - disc welded to the blades.

A/C pumps have 8 blades I think. And no, I wouldn't use the Moroso drive on the street. Even if it kept it cool, what if that little belt broke?!

From my experience, the moroso water pump drives will not keep it cool on the street. I've never tried it on anything under 600 hp though.

it is actually counter intuitive.
it is 6 for a/c but it is because the use a smaller pump pulley so it spins faster.

The 8 blade is non-a/c and it uses a larger pulley so it spins slower.

Thanks for the input fellas. Pulleys and an alternator are on the way from Mancini.
