I finally found a chart which shows possible boost numbers with a given blower size and cubic inches. Wanted to get some views on size before I bought one.

The car is race only and will have a 528 Hemi with a blower. When I get to this point the car will weigh 2500 w/driver and with the engine moved back 3 or 4 inches. The chart I found says a 8-71 should provide about 10 lbs boost, a 10-71 up to 25 lbs boost and with a 14-71 a whole bunch. I could never see me putting 25 lbs of boost much less something more. It's interesting that the chart did not show a 12-71.

Here's the question should I go with a 10-71 or step up to either a 12 or 14 and just not twist it as hard???

Interested in your opinions!! Thanks, Max

14-71's and Hemi's are made for each other

The chart you are looking at must be based on some average head flow figures. Hemi heads flow well (have less restriction) so boost would probably be lower and power higher.

Or put differently, you would need a bigger blower to get the the same boost and make more power.

An 8-71 Superman is about the best little blower out there. It will make more power than most bigger blowers and costs less. A guy who runs with us here makes 42#'s of boost on his 360" chevy motor and has ran 5.teens at 3300#'s on a 10.5 tire. But me personally I like to keep it all consealed under the hood. The F-3 was my blower of choice. I made 36# of boost at 8600 rpm's on my 360" W-8 motor. Next race we will turn it up to 9400 rpm's and be around 40 or so pounds of boooooooost!!!!!!

Dave, I agree with your view and I'm pretty sure I'll go with a 14-71.

Fuel, I'm not sure yet, I have been thinking about E-85 but I haven't seen much published about it and blowers. There's still time to make that decision. I've got 9:1 pistons so that much is somewhat fixed. I haven't ck'd the chamber volume as yet to determine where I really stand with compression.

Budget, it'll take what it takes. On my fixed income it'll take a while but that's OK. I've got a few parts already collected and am planning on selling off years of accumulation.

Performance: My initial goal is to work my little hatchback to about 8.5 secs. If I decide to go faster I'll either upgrade my chassis or put the engine into another car.

My first encounter with a supercharger was in 1957 when my friend and I took a McCullough unit off of a Kaiser Manhattan and adapted it to his 265 Chevy. It helped but not as much as we thought it would. We really didn't know what we were doing but that never stopped us.

Thanks, Max

i would go more with a 10-71 than a 14-71 and use the extra 4k$ or more on other parts.let us know what the blower makers say.
