Sorry, I put the Cragars on a'68 RR I had but sold the car a couple of years ago. Cragars ARE the best looking wheel on these muscle cars as they are period correct. Of course, this is my opinion.

I'm sure it is but from the pictures it looks different due to the sunlight and camera exposure....I hope. I haven't seen the car in person yet but I'm sure Paul wouldn't have put in the wrong color.
Hopefully I'll be able to bring her home Saturday and I'll post some finished pictures.

It looks like it belongs but according to the experts, only black carpet is available with no other color options with the 4 speed unless you have a console.

as is with anything Mopar. I don't think anything was written in stone.

I've owned 4 different 4 speed cars and the only one with black carpet had black interior.
1st - 1969 GTX hardtop - red interior - red buckets - console - red carpet
2nd - 1969 GTX convertible - blue buckets int - console - blue carpet.
3rd - 1970 SuperBee , blue bench seat - blue carpet.
I don't care what the experts say, I'll bet everything I own,, all 3 were factory.

I also have a customers 1970 4 speed Roadrunner and he's owned the car for most of it's life and it's burnt orange int , buckets, no console, burnt orange carpet

Your color combo looks great but if you are going to have any serious judging done on the car, you may get docked on the carpet? None of the cars you owned were 4 speeds without a console so your references are not apples to apples. The 70 is not a good reference because you have a 69. If it was my car, I would go with the green. If you are trying to get it OE perfect, you will be subject to second guessing based on what everyone thinks they know. How many judged shows will you be doing where some judge will even know to question it? If you have documentation, that's all you need. If Paul suggested it, he may have been mistaking? If it's what you wanted, it's your car and it's all good! That's all I'm saying. The car and interior look fantastic anyway you look at it.

Black carpet with 4 spd was commonly believed to be only in 1968. However, I have found many examples, of even 68's, with colored carpet-even though man say it couldn't be ordered that way.

John,
I completey agree , but judges also need to keep in mind nothing is written in stone. many years ago I judgeed the blue on blue 1970 Superbee of John Grindwald and I'm pretty sure it was blue bench seat with 4 speed and blue carpet. Having Judged at teh Nat s fo ra few years
I've seen the paperwork where it says black carpet only with 4 speeds ( no mention of with or without carpet ) Bur I have personally seen to many cars where it bucks the trend / paperwork and has non black carpets with colored interiors

I also have a customer with a 1970 Charger , also burnt orange int and it has black carpet ( I don't rememeber if it's console or not)

maybe it was a plant thing
my blue int 1969 GTX vert is St louis
the other 2 I don't remember but I think the red int 1969 GTX was also St louis.
But the 1970 Bee I have no idea( car was sold many many many years ago )

I appreciate your comments but first of all the car does not belong to GTX6970, as your post seems to indicate, but it could if he is interested in buying it. My build sheet calls for a H2G interior but I assume that doesn't include the carpet color? From a practicle standpoint why would a console car receive a different color carpet than a non-console car or even an automatic car with column shift? Seems like Chrysler would want the carpet to match the seat covers and door panels but then again common sense often times is left to us common folk. I trust Paul's judgement as his cars seem to win an awful lot of Gold.

Sorry, I mistook Bill's response for yours. I wasn't paying attention. I'm a Grandpa too...but not an excuse. The carpet is probably fine but it sounds like you did not have the original for reference. (some had shag carpets instaled by their owners back in the day). The main reason in a console car is that it matches the color of the console. I do not know why it is not a requirement in the automatic column cars but it is stated in the 69 trim options that only black carpet with 4 speed non-consoles.

Is there anyway of posting a copy of the trim option sheet you referenced? I would like to see that as I don't think I have ever seen that form. Back in 1969 I was 19 and didn't have the money to order a new car much less pick my options so that form/sheet would be very interesting to me. Thanks for the info.
Can you imagine my car with black carpet, 2 tone green seats and door panels, F-8 body color and a W-1 top? Talk about UGLY!!!!!!!!!

This is all I could find. It's a copy from a Winged Warriors newsletter that was taken out of the 69 sales interior/exterior trim guide. I have seen this in an original guide. It's a small blue cloth binder. There is an asterisk next to the word in the lower table column marked "Carpets*"
Below the table it explains "Black carpet only with 4 speed manual transmission". There is a clarification somewhere else that allows colored carpets when you have a 4 speed with console. Again, I am not being critical but with your concern about perfect hubcaps, I thought you'd want to know. Maybe they made an exception for green interiors? They should have? I had an F8 green 69 Hemi Bee with the two tone green bench seat but do not remember the carpet. It's owned by Joe S. in NY and was restored by Kohrs out of PA. I think it had a black carpet?

Oh trust me, I am very proud of the hard work both Troy and Paul put into my car. However, it upsets me greatly that Paul is going to take it out on a shake down run before I even have a chance to see it in it's completed stage! But then again he always delivers a car that doesn't need any tweeking. It has been a long time but the finished product will be well worth the wait but the long wait has been my fault.

Thank you for providing this information. I do see the * next to Carpets and the designation that 4 speed cars were to receive black carpet but I didn't see anything about the use of colors with the console. Interesting for sure. I will contact Sue with WW and see if she can provide some additional information. Thanks again for posting this.

Well I'm off to Evansville next Saturday to pick the car up. It's 100% complete, road tested and ready to come home. I'll post some completed pictures once it's in my driveway.
