Never thought I'd hate something as much as I do headers. 72 Cuda 383 manual steering. First it was the full lenght Hookers now its the shorty Hedmans. I know the engine needs to be lifted somewhat. Do I undo both engine mounts AND the tranny mount? Floor jack placed where? Hate em!

Undo both motor mounts and place a small block of 2x4 between the oil pan and the jack and raise the engine slightly. No need to disturb the trans mount.

Sometimes it seems that it makes sense to remove only what appears to be in the way to do an install, but JEEZ! As I get older, my patience and tolerance seems to be getting worse. NOW I pull the starter and unhook the steering linkage. Fewer things in the way really do help reduce frustration and speed things up.

shouldn't be that hard, especially with manual steering. I leave one motor mount bolt oppisite the side I'm installing in. I place a 2x4 under the oil pan and jack it up. This will raise the one side up high enough to get the header on. The drivers side goes in best for under the car and drop the drag link.
