Hello, perhaps spmeone could help with my question. I have searched the site and have not found a conclusive answer. Are '71 'cuda trunk lids identical to the '70 'cuda lid with the spoiler cut-outs in the sheetmetal? I understand there is an "early" design and was not sure if that only meant the '70 model. When did they phase out the trunk lid with the cut-outs?

Thank you

to the best of my knowledge 71 trunk lids are all by themselves. they have 2 square shaped holes, about 6" from the rear edge, for the spoiler mounts. 70 trunk lids have several smaller square shaped holes, right next to the rear lip, for mounting the spoiler. 72 and up have J shaped holes near the under side body line bottom corners.
i haven't looked at new trunk lids in several years but in the past. new lids have the 70 and 72 and up holes cut in them when you buy them. to the best of my knowledge they don't re produce 71 lids, i am probably wrong on this will all of the new repo metal available now.
one thing to remember is all year lids are the same structurally so they will bolt on all year cars, jut the spoiler cut outs are different.
i would assume that early design lids have both the 70 and 71 holes cut into them.
