Voltage limiter stuck and killed my gauges Saturday. Considering sending a core cluster to a rebuilder for an exchange and they were inquiring about which temp gauge I'd need. On some the normal range is about 2/3 to the right and others are about center. After searching several pages on here I found a post suggesting the ones with the normal range centered were later production. Is this correct? Also most I've seen have a white cross on the tach/clock delete plate. Mine is all black. What would be correct for a car with a 7/68 build date? If I do have to spend the big $$$ I may as well try to get the correct stuff. (Not sure my cluster is original to my car). Thanks!

Well the blacked out filler ran untill at least early Feb. 1968 at the St Louis plant. The gauge I'm not sure on but I have four clusters here from cars with spd's late 67 to June 68 all have the 2/3 style range. You car is pretty early so I would say the other style is correct. If you are interested in a nice used cluster PM me.

My RR was built in late June of '68. It had an oil pressure gauge installed where the tach goes when I bought it in 1976, so I can't tell you for sure about the correct blank plate. I bought a used blank plate years ago and removed the gauge. I know the cluster is original otherwise, so if a pic of the temp gauge would be helpful, I'll shoot one this evening and post it.
Jim, Your car should have the cross.
